Gearbox (Engineering pistol). A new development by Russian Railways to simplify the work of engineers who provide preventive maintenance work for cars.
A primitive wood sample of the future case for this device came to us. Our task was to correct the appearance of the case while maintaining the fit dimensions for the internal placement of the working tool and electronics.
The main request of the customer was in the seats and nests. And then the sketches began.
The work was lined up in several stages: 3D scanning, stitching 3D scans, 3D modeling, 3D printing, polishing.
Three-dimensional scanning was performed on a VT Mini 3 2D scanner. The scans were stitched using the software Geomagic Studio.
Based on the scan, a solid model was created in the software package SolidWorks.
The landing dimensions of the internal cavities were set in the same place.
The final look and inscriptions were finalized in the programs ZBrush and 3DMax.
And then endless edits began =)
And further…
And further…
Edits again ...
Just a little bit left ...
The bottom line:
There is no better size checker than Protopip. We print the case on a 3D printer and try it on.
Everything fit perfectly, the customer is satisfied! And this is the most important thing!
