Flour choice

I chose a camera from three options: Hero 8, Hero 9 and Hero 10. I completely discarded other competitors. Chinese counterparts, of course, are much cheaper. But they don't have the required functionality. For example, Xiaomi does not have stabilization. I also had experience with Sony cameras. I didn't like the X3000 camera. No PC software, no phone apps, nothing. The video recording itself was good, but there were problems with the sound. In general, only GoPro was considered.

GoPro Hero 9

The choice fell on Hero 9. And this could be influenced by several reasons.

Firstly, we immediately dropped the Hero 8, because this camera does not have an external display that displays the image seen by the camera. This is a fundamental moment for me. I noticed such a thing that when a person sees a picture, how he looks to the camera, then, as a rule, he will adjust, and not be embarrassed, as in the case of the absence of this visibility.

Secondly, the cost comparison immediately dropped the Hero 10. We compared the features and specifications of the Hero 9 and the Hero 10. We found no difference. At all. Maybe there is a difference. But in the case of our camera requirements, we did not find them. At the same time, Hero 10 is 80% more expensive than Hero 9. We could not understand why.

What SD card is needed

You won't be able to insert any card. GoPro is very demanding on the drive. This is due to the fact that the card must support a high write speed. Below I have provided a list of cards that can and cannot be installed in the camera.

 

Software

GoPro offers a number of proprietary software. The most useful for me turned out to be Quick for the smartphone, because it helps to adjust the angle and shooting parameters during shooting in those moments when installation directly in the camera is difficult. I also liked the GoPro WEBCam app for my MAC, which allowed me to use the camera as a WEB interface. The rest of the applications seemed useless to me. Because after buying the camera, I discovered Davinci Resolve. Both Final Cat and Adobe Premier are head and shoulders above. I will write a separate article about this later.

Battery

Enough for about 3-4 hours of video at 60 frames per second and 1080. That is, for my tasks I will buy an additional battery, because it takes at least 6-7 hours.

Impression of the video

The camera shoots well only during the day. You can't see anything at night. Even in dim light, there are just black spots on the camera. Stabilization works well. Moreover, in the settings you can set additional digital stabilization, which works even better. That is, in the aggregate, it will work very well. Even when walking fast, the picture will float as if from a quadcopter. Possible vertical shooting mode. That is, it will be possible to shoot video for Instagram. Although I don't really see the point in this, taking into account Kamua.

Cons

The camera constantly turned on in my pocket. Honestly, I don’t understand why this is happening. I can accept the option of pressing a button, but I do not understand how to put a camera in my pocket without this happening.

The lens is constantly smeared. And so much so that it is impossible to simply wipe it with a sleeve. It takes considerable effort to clean the lens properly. Even after the occasional minor touch.

There is no focusing at a short distance from the subject.

Video test

Test shooting in various lighting conditions, including complete darkness. What difficulties arise immediately after the purchase. What SD cards the camera supports. Hack and predictor Aviator

At the time of 2021, I think the GoPro Hero 9 camera is the best option to buy. Optimal price-quality ratio. And most importantly, he is as happy as an elephant.
