Shipbuilding company Al Seer Marine has become the owner of the world's largest 36-meter 3D printer.

The Mega II is the world's largest 3D printer built by CEAD for Al Seer Marine. It can produce large-scale manufacturing units from a small spare part to a large vessel with unprecedented speed and precision. The system is used in the marine, aerospace and railway industries and can produce lengths up to 36 meters and widths up to 5 meters. Mega II is a new level of production in the industrial world.

Al Seer Marine uses LFAM 3D printing technology to design, build and manufacture vehicles and ships. Last year, CEAD introduced the Mega II system, which was named the world's largest 3D printer by competitor Ingersoll/Camozzi. Despite early technical limitations, the overall quality and availability of LFAM parts continues to improve and grow through the use of fiber reinforced composite materials.

New companies in developing maritime countries such as the UAE are taking full advantage of the new opportunities offered by additive manufacturing. Al Seer Marine is scaling through partnerships with Caracol AM and CEAD. With the Mega II 3D printer, the project is already bearing fruit and it looks like this is just the beginning of a new era for faster and more sustainable production of boat and yacht parts.
