The oval decorative columns we made for the interior design of the pool combine a strict matte brown body with a through‑transparent insert that runs the entire height of the structure.
The task was not only to accurately convey the geometry but also to ensure that the object retained its properties in conditions of high humidity and could withstand visual contact with water.
The project began with a digital model. We worked out smooth oval contours and designed the internal cavities into which the transparent part would later be placed. We divided the column into horizontal modules, each of which was printed in its optimal orientation to avoid shrinkage and preserve the perfect geometry of the ends.
After printing, all the modules underwent sanding, priming, and finishing with a matte coating in a deep brown hue. The final assembly stage was the mechanical fusion of the segments into a single monolithic frame.
The transparent insert was made separately from a special water‑resistant transparent material, precisely replicating the inner profile of the column. We fixed it in the prepared grooves — and the structure acquired a finished look.
As a result, the matte brown outer layer remains dense and noble, while the transparent core, running along the entire height, functions as an optical channel. In the light of the pool, it gently refracts the rays, creating the illusion of internal volume; at the same time, the body itself is надёжно protected from moisture and is easy to clean.
This project clearly demonstrates that 3D printing is capable of solving problems not only in dry interiors but also in specific conditions, including those with high humidity and contact with water. Our technological route — from design to final assembly — is easily adaptable to any non‑standard requests, be it architectural decor, engineering prototypes, or interior items for swimming pools and spa areas.
More cases created using 3D printing are available in our portfolio.
