Nikon completed the purchase of SLM Solutions and became a manufacturer of metal 3D printers.

SLM Solutions is a German company specializing in the production of metal 3D printers. Nikon has acquired a 75,01% stake in SLM Solutions for €135 million ($155 million), which will allow the Japanese company to expand its industrial 3D printing business.

Nikon already has experience in 3D printing, but he mainly focuses on printing plastic parts. The acquisition of SLM Solutions will enable him to enter the rapidly growing metal 3D printing market with great potential for applications across industries including aviation, medicine and tool manufacturing.

According to Nikon representatives, the company intends to integrate SLM Solutions technologies into its existing business processes and develop new products and services based on metal 3D printing.
