This page is dedicated to the translation of 3D model files created in various programs into STL format for 3D printing. In advance, please pay attention to the fact that the text describes only the procedure Translation converting files. If you converted the file to STL format, it does not mean that this file can be 3D printed. In order for you to be able to 3D print, STL files must conform to requirements for 3D models... Be sure to check the files before sending them for 3D printing! You can read why the STL format is so important in modern production. here... Export to stl format is an integral part of the production process.

1. From AutoCAD

Exporting to STL 3D models from AutoCAD will not work correctly if you use the standard export function. How to correctly translate a model into STL format from AutoCAD read in separate article...

2. From Revit

Revit does not have its own 3D to STL converter at all. To save a 3D model from Revit to STL, you need to go to some tricks, which are described in separate article...

3. From STP

There are two ways to convert STL models from STP. Using the program Materialize magics or, in the case when you do not want to install additional software, using our online converter.

4. From Inventor, SolidWorks, etc.

As a rule, the result of activity developed in programs of this type is saved in their own formats of these programs. Never save files in native formats of these programs. Otherwise, it will not be possible to transfer them to the stl format correctly. The most correct way is to save the file in STP format. Then use the method from paragraph 3 of this article.

5. 3D MAX

3D max has its own good converter to STL format. The only thing to consider is that the model will be saved as it was created in the software. 3D max does not check models for errors. Therefore, after saving the model in STL format from 3D max, it is imperative to check model for errors!

6. Zbrush

As in the case of 3D max, the program has a very good converter to STL format. However, you must remember about possible errors and check the model before printing in accordance with the instructions.
